Every year, APEX Public Relations and ruckus Digital add interns to their teams in the hopes of integrating them into the fast-paced and ever-changing world of communications.
This summer we have the pleasure of taking on three ambitious interns who each come from unique academic backgrounds, bringing to the table diverse approaches to problem-solving and story-telling. Below, we have asked Tessa, Ben and Vy to tell us a little bit about themselves!
“Hi, I joined the APEX team a few weeks ago. I am a dual citizen – half French, half American but I was born and raised in the New York City area! I graduated from McGill University in May of this year with a B.A. in International Development and Communications. I have had two previous internships in the world of communications that really opened my eyes to the vast range of capabilities a public relations firm is able to reach. For a long time I struggled to find a path that would allow me to utilize my passion for all things art, design, and fashion and my desire to change lives through effective story-telling and brand management – if you asked me a few years ago what I would be doing after University, I would probably have said law school! APEX has surfaced as a happy medium between the two and I am very excited to see what the rest of my experience here has in store.”
“I was born and raised in Toronto amongst the most wonderful parts of our city. Ever since my earliest social interaction, I’ve found myself to be naturally inclined towards communication and interpersonal relations – drawing on my passion for liberal arts and natural interest in communication, I decided to enroll in a Public Relations Management BA at Centennial College. Since then, I have continued to develop my skills with a specific interest in the discipline of digital communications and social media. Building upon that interest, I wanted to pursue additional professional experience within the field and found APEX/ruckus Digital to be the most applicable and integrative opportunity. Despite having only started working at APEX/ruckus, I’ve greatly benefited from the open atmosphere based on inclusivity, information exchange, and general positivity.”
“There are always things to learn if you pay attention and you are curious. I made it my goal to explore at least a new thing a day – no matter how small – since I joined ruckus Digital. Understanding how nostalgia has marketing potential, or what behavioural science has to do with buying decisions are few things among the exciting things I`ve discovered here. Being a creator on both a professional and personal level, this learning spirit feeds my desire for new knowledge and creativity. “Make the most of everything!” is my mantra and I say it to myself every day I come to the office. ”
