APEXers are asking five questions about the year it’s been and what individuals are looking forward to in 2016.
Today’s post if from Morgan Lindsay, associate design editor for Style at Home.
“I am SO over the owl”
- What is the biggest surprise/change you’ve seen in your industry in the past year?
“We deal with lots of beautiful interiors that have relatively calm, neutral colour palette’s (whites, pale greys, etc). What has surprised me in the past year is how designers and homeowners have started to embrace more colour into their spaces (yay!). I love the bold wallpapers and colourful textiles that popped up in more homes over the past year. I hope this continues!”
- Who is a true disrupter or game changer in your opinion?
“Not sure I’ll be able to pick just one…at Style at Home we work with some of the best Interior Designers across Canada who are always pushing decor to the next level. I will say that I was definitely wowed by the interiors and creative projects produced by talented Canadian bloggers. The décor blog world really made an impact on 2015, offering lots of DIY and more budget friendly projects for everyday living.”
- What app or technology do you rely on most day-to-day?
“I have to say Instagram – which I know is likely the answer for pretty much everyone these days. As a designer and stylist, Instagram lets you get lost in a continuous thread of inspiration. Whether that be full room designs or table top styling. There are so many talented people in this world, it’s fun to scroll through the app and discover new people/fresh spaces. “
- What don’t you want to see carried over in 2016?
“This is a very random, but I am SO over the owl. It was literally everywhere in 2015 – lamp bases, book ends, textiles, you name it!! We need a new creature to feature :)”
- What are you most excited about for 2016?
“Honestly, I’m probably most excited to just see what’s coming out next. It’s interesting to see how products evolve and décor trends shift over time, and fun to see how other people in our industry bring these new trends to life! On a personal note – I’m excited about buying a home in 2016 and having some fun with décor myself!!”
