Stakeholder Relations

Credit software leader Filogix was on the verge of acquiring Canadian tech company Cyence. In doing so, it stood to gain a foothold in the remaining 10 per cent of the market it had yet to corner. But concerns of potential employee departures and customer perceptions that the company was moving away from its core competency demanded a calculated, strategic communications plan. To ensure the acquisition received the optimal reception, APEX recommended and coordinated the communication roll-out, which included personal delivery of the initial news by Filogix’s CEO to employees of both companies using carefully crafted messages. Senior managers held follow-up Q&A sessions with groups of employees using messaging specific to their needs. In addition, APEX drafted letters for Filogix to inform its customers in various sectors about the acquisition and how it would benefit them. The strategy proved successful, with no immediate resistance from clients or employees of either company.
