Taking home Silver Leafs

IABC Canada recognizes excellence in business communication

Six awards of excellence were handed out at IABC Canada's Silver Leaf Awards banquet in Halifax in October. In the marketing communications category, Regional Municipality of Peel-Peel Health was awarded for its "Smoke-Free Bars" campaign; and Tap Communications was awarded for its "Prairie Central Credit Union: Us + You + Time" campaign.

In the audiovisual category, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario was awarded for "LCBO WHMIS Safety Training" and Alberta Recycling Management Authority was awarded for "E-Sourceful Thinking."

Coast Capital Savings Credit Union won in the publications category for "Gist Employee Magazine." In the media relations category, Apex Public Relations won for "Flying High: Mosaik Mastercard becomes a serious player in the travel rewards industry." Sixteen other companies received awards of merit, while two communications consultants Ken Cherney, founder of Ken Cherney and Associates in Toronto; and Glenna Cross, president of Cross Wise Communications in Calgary, were both given the Master Communicator Award, IABC Canada's top honour.

IABC Canada has about 3,000 members in 14 chapters across the country. It is an arm of the International Association of Business Communicators, which boasts membership of 13,000 corporate and PR professionals in more than 60 countries.
