What do you get when you blend together 100 Toronto community facilitators and six George Brown College chefs over the course of an eight-hour day? The Community Health Education through Food (CHEF) program – a recipe for improved health benefiting Toronto’s most vulnerable communities. Recognizing the need for improving community health through nutritional training and culinary skill development among Toronto’s drop-in and shelter kitchens and schools, George Brown College developed the CHEF program in joint collaboration with seven partners, and held a hands-on training day at the College in February. Globe and Mail journalist Elizabeth Church got a first-hand look at the cooking lab, resulting in a great article in the newspaper's Toronto section, all about how the CHEF program promotes "good food for a good cause."
