1 As an individual who others follow for industry news, what topic, person or hashtag do you follow religiously for inspiration/news?
“That’s like asking me to name my favorite child! Of course, I follow anything PR-related. The good, the bad, and the ugly. I’m introduced to a lot of new voices through the Spin Sucks readers, who send me links to articles. I have a Feedly feeder full of blog and news subscriptions. And I have Talkwalker alerts set up for things such as PR measurement and social media news.”
2 Why do you follow that topic?
“My job is two-fold: I’m the leader of a marketing communications firm in Chicago and I run the PR blog, Spin Sucks. You could say I am completely and totally immersed in the PR industry, which is why it’s just part of my blood to keep up-to-date all on things PR.”
3 Why should others follow that topic or individual?
“If you’re in PR, of course you should follow the topic. It can be as broad as general things hitting the industry, such as why AVEs are the wrong metric, why PR finally has a place at the table, or what journalists are saying about the “evil” side, or you can get very specific, such as healthcare or financial communications.”
